In SCW history, very few have made marks that seemingly forbid them from ever not being considered relevant. Names like Jason Zero, CHBK, Shawn Winters, and also in more recent times Jake Starr, fit that bill. Each one of them rose to the challenge that SCW presents, and cemented their name as one of the best of the best. Each, however, had moments where they had become a little less of a factor in the major "operations" of SCW, and in the case of Shawn Winters, there were periods where he simply left for personal reasons.
Each man had his moment, seemingly lost it, and had to rebuild the foundation that was once there. It wasn't a matter of winning over the hearts and minds of their fellow competitors or the fans, but more so the powers that be. In the business of professional wrestling, they're the biggest critics, and the ones who have the be impressed the most. They're the ones who immediately decide who moves up ladders and who moves down. It's all based on their perception. It's understandable, to a point. They look at professional wrestling as a business model. It'd not the entertainment product that the rest of the world sees. To them, it's about money, drawing power, merchandise sales, things like that. They look who they can market the best, and who can increase the amount of money going into the corporate wallet.
It's something that's not widely regarded as the best litmus test of "who belongs where" on the totem pole.
Currently in SCW, that litmus test is proving to be one that is difficult to judge for everyone. In the board room, many of the executives feel they have something special going, with the Interim Champion, Syren, and the matchup made for Apocalypse being Double Jeopardy. It's something they feel will give them a definitely higher buyrate than previous years, spur interest in the main events, and also draw more people in to watch the televised events, both before and after the pay-per view.
For the fans, they see it as exciting as well. They are anxious to see Lucas Knight and Syren battle one another, while at the same time seeing Thorn and Shaun Cruze battle as well. After all four spend every ounce trying to win their first match, guess what, it's not over. The fans get more. The winners then have to turn around and battle one another. In essence, the world gets two Interim World Title matches, and one United States Championship match, all in one fell swoop. It's an exciting main event for the fans, who realize how much chaos could ensue just from this match alone.
Like is known, the reaction to this litmus test isn't all positive, especially for one individual, and that individual is Jake Starr himself. After being cast aside, by Lucas Knight, in the tournament to determine the number one contender, Jake still felt the idea of forcing him to continually have to jump through hoop after hoop, just to receive a chance at the top prize in the industry, was becoming a bit unfair. Jake felt that many had been gifted opportunities for doing far less, while he's been overexerting himself, beating people left and right, and ultimately winning the majority of those matches. It was something that Jake had felt boiling inside him for a long period of time. He had felt compelled to repeatedly ask why he wasn't considered, and time after time, there was no answer.
Finally, it was too much to handle...
Once the blood boiled over, Jake began to have his mind completely regress and revert back to his days as the "Social Misfit" that ultimately helped people truly remember him by that moniker. He began to take the law into his own hands. He began to feel the rage that he felt when other organizations began disrespecting him in the same manner he feels he is now. He knew what he had to do. He called upon a long time friend, known as "Chairee," not to be confused with the puppet-chair of a similar name from Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and decided it was time they went on an adventure together. That adventure was event after event of Chairee being bashed in to the heads of those who got in his way.
It was a set of actions that turned everyone's head simultaneously, including that of David Helms. Helms was one of the first to vocalize his worry for Jake's actions, akin to Jake's mentality when the two feuded. This time, however, Jake didn't take it as a personal shot. This time Jake reminded his friend that while, yes, they had been down the path before, they learned the valuable lesson of acceptance from it. They learned that they could not always agree, but still understand that it was their differences that made them each unique. It's something Helms seemed to understand, still not quite fully embrace. But nevertheless, Jake had gotten the world's attention. He had done so in such a manner that the SCW Board of Directors had to OPENLY exclude Jake from being considered for the Double Jeopardy main event... And in a nutshell, it was a move he wasn't pleased about.
That's lead to today. It's lead to a very defiant Jake Starr, who's out for blood, and out to make a statement on SCW, blaming the Board of Directors for his actions. It's lead to Jake feeling the need to lash out again, and this time, make sure everyone knows he wasn't acting out his aggressions just for attention, but for a reason. It's lead to Jake standing in front of a black backdrop, with the Adrenaline Championship perched on his shoulder, and a chair being held by one leg, at his side. He stands there with a very calculated and deep stare into the lens of the camera. His facial expressions tell it all... He's focused. As the camera begins to zoom in on the Adrenaline Champion, his head raises up, then slightly tilts to the side, before beginning.
Jake Starr: There are times when I look around, and I realize that things may not always be as bad as they seem. I mean, sure, the SCW Board of Directors still have their respective heads planted so far up their asses, they couldn't see the light of day if they were on the surface of the sun, BUT they are finally beginning to open their eyes, and realize that all of their decisions, lately, look the same... SHITTY! Nevertheless, though, they are now having to purposely, and openly, screw me, rather than do so in such a "behind the scenes" and "subtle" manner.
See, everyone knows the story. Everyone knows what they've decided to do with me, and how, in their mind, I'm better off NOT in the limelight, so I won't reiterate it. What I will say, though, is that the world is now seeing it first hand, and honestly, I want to say I forced their hand.
Here's what happened... The Board had high hopes for keeping this all on the proverbial "DL," that's "Down Low" for those of you not hip and cool with the times. They wanted the world to think that I was simply paranoid, and that the idea of being overlooked was all simply a figment of my imagination. They didn't want to have to come out and blatantly say, "No, Jake Starr isn't deserving." So what did I do? I took matters into my own hands. I took the law into my own hands. I did what I do best, and I went out there and began to open the world's eyes. With each swinging of the chair, more and more people realized I did still exist, and holy shit, I had done a lot to legitimately say I deserved some fucking recognition.
Along with that, I showed the world that I truly had reached my boiling point.
For too long I sat back, and everyone knew it. I allowed the world to have their respective day in the limelight, and I waited my turn. I was a good boy. The problem is, it got taken for fucking granted. It became expected. It became what I was supposed to do. I was supposed to be the Amy Pond of SCW.
FYI for you non-Whovians, she is known as "The Girl Who Waited..." The more you know!
Anyway, I was supposed to be a good little guy, and follow whatever edicts were sent my way. I bended, and I bended, and I bended, and guess what finally happened? I broke. I snapped like a twig. I was tired of being the guy who simply did what I was told because that is not who I am. That whole philosophy never got anyone anywhere. No matter how many guys want to try and tell me they got ahead by being the "good little employee" and doing things the "right way," they didn't. They either kissed someone's ass, or they bent the rules in their favor somewhere. It's just how it goes. And that's where I decided to openly split from the pack. Instead of waiting my turn, I'm taking my fucking turn!
It was a move that put the B-O-R-E-D in a precarious position. They had to decide whether or not to simply not acknowledge the carnage that I was bringing on SCW, and it's prodigal children, or openly say that Jake Starr wasn't going to get his chance, now that the "Dress-Up" World Champion has been crowned. And it was at this moment of impasse and confusion, that we received this lovely press release, from the offices of the SCW Board of Directors...
Jake unwads a piece of paper, and puts on a pair of old person, reading glasses, and begins to look down through them. He quickly realizes he can't see worth a damn with them on, and tosses them to the side. He audibly clears his throat, and begins to read.
"While the SCW World Champion has an interim holder in the time that Shilo Valiant will be absent as a result of the pyrotechnics explosion that occurred on the August 15 edition of Breakdown, as a result of Jason Zero’s actions, the number one contendership is in serious doubt. That said, the SCW Board of Directors have vowed to name the SCW World Championship match at Apocalypse by Monday night at 10 p.m. EST. What this means is unsure but someone will be getting an opportunity. One man who won’t be is Jake Starr. That is thanks to his actions on recent Breakdowns and Ammos, attacking various people with chairs and clearly showing his displeasure with the Board’s decisions."
Jake then wads the paper back up, and tosses it over his shoulder. He looks back into the lens with a more confused, and slightly disgusted, look on his face.
Really? You think that's just a sign of displeasure with the decisions of the group of dimwits running SCW? Seriously? Is that the story they're trying to spin, hoping the public continues to buy into that charade? They can't be honest and simply say that they've been forced to respond, but still are going to hold me back? They can't say I called their bluff, and they're simply pissed off about it? Instead it's displeasure? Yeah, no... It's not me showing displeasure. I showed that LONG before any of you high and mightiers ever decided to quit playing the "Human Centipede" game. I showed displeasure, hoping that MAYBE, just maybe, one of you idiots would man up, and show me a little decency... Or at the least admit your transgressions to my face. And after my "displeasure," you guys didn't even blink a fucking eye.
So I assure you, this isn't displeasure. This is now far from that. This is boiling annoyance, and borderline anger. I bypassed displeasure LONG ago, and you brood of tools were too blind to see it. Instead, you chose to focus on the same things you guys always seem to focus on. You guys have just assumed that you knew everything, and everyone's motive was crystal clear.
Not mine...
While I did go out there to expose you guys for, basically, blacklisting me from any sort of opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship, it also marked my opportunity to do just what I do best, and that's unleashing the true hell of the Social Misfits on SCW. For too long, I've sat back, and I've restrained the urges to just do what I want. I've had to fight an inner turmoil of not letting me be like I was in the day, where I would go out, and I'd make my own destiny. I'd force the hands of the "brass," and I'd make them realize that holding me back was one of the DUMBEST decisions they could make. And when I say that, I hope they sincerely realize they will be fully understanding it in the near future.
See, the fact that I have gone out there, and done everything I can to help elevate my batting average to that of "Cooperstown" status, is just the icing on the cake. It is just the fucking beginning for me. It was that beginning of every speech, that is rightfully dubbed, "the attention getter." This was that moment where I went out there, and I tested your patience. You showed me you have none. You've shown me you're going to take the bait that I put out there, and you're going to bite on it as hard as you can. You showed me everything I needed to know EXACTLY what I have to do going forward. I will continue to push your buttons, egg you on, and make sure that NOBODY forgets that I am going to be right in the middle of things, until you guys finally step up to the plate, and show me some of the respect I have earned since just returning. After that, MAYBE I'll contemplating playing "nice" again.
Until then, though, you guys made the executive decision to play hardball with me. You guys forced me to take matters into my own hands. So until I see that whole attitude change, until I feel like things are finally tracking in a more FAIR manner, then you can DAMN SURE believe that every single one of your precious cash cows will be a marked man. More importantly, think about how paranoid that will make them all. Think about the fact that they're already looking over their shoulders for ME. Their nerves will be on point, and not because titles will be on the line. It won't be because someone will have the chance to leave as the World AND United States Champion. It will be because they'll fear that I'll be standing there waiting, chair in hand, and their head in my sights. Well... All but one. But he knows I'm not going to do anything to screw up his chances.
It's kind of funny, if you think about it... You guys have continually gone above and beyond to keep me out of the spotlight. You've done what you could to try and keep me out of people's minds, and out of the World Title picture, but look now. Look what's happened. Look and see where that mentality has gotten you. It's gotten you to the point where your big guys can't even focus on what you've hoped to bless them with. They're instead forced to think about me, and in turn put me right in the middle of things as well. By going out of you way, and acknowledging the fact you're holding me back, you're putting me right in there. Inevitably, your little dream of me not being an active member of your little gala at Apocalypse, will put me right in the middle of it!
A very callous and mischievous grin comes across the face of the Adrenaline Champion.
So that's where we are, I suppose. I guess the "wise" beings inside the front office have realized that poking the sleeping lion only works for so long, before it roars and pounces. I gave a warning roar, and now, I'm pouncing. It's a mentality that I plan on continuing, as I go forward. I don't plan on stopping, or treating any night as if it's different. If I have a match, I'll do what I do, and then I'll continue with doing MY business. I don't care if it's Breakdown, Ammo, Aggression, or some pay-per view, where I feel my "presence" is necessary, it will be felt, and it will continue to reverberate through the halls of that damn locker room.
As I move forward, I look ahead to places, like the aforementioned shows, that will help me solidify my presence. I look for opposition that is going out with the goals of taking me down a few notches. I know there are the Sucka MCs, the Adam Alloccos, the Christian Saviors, and ultimately the Memphis Cades, but right now, none of those dolts matter. They may eventually try to step into the limelight, and screw with my Adrenaline Championship reign, but right now isn't that time. Right now, my reign atop the Adrenaline Division isn't in jeopardy. Right now, I can completely devote every waking moment to just being the, well, ass that I am. I can devote this time to beating people up, increasing my hit to miss ratio, and ultimately making a bigger stink in SCW.
Before going into Apocalypse, I get a chance to make another statement. This time, it's against Cloudiee. This time it's against some small little creature, that apparently likes to call Finland home. This time it's against someone who is hoping to show the world that he knows how to compete in MY Adrenaline Division. This is a guy who wants to do something that would legitimately "shock the world." This is a guy who is naive, young, dumb, and full of cum. He's a guy who is looking to still find that moment where he can break into the business, and become something special.
Now don't get me wrong... I respect that in a person. I'm glad Cloudiee has this desire to become something memorable. The problem is, I don't respect anyone being thrown at me who is out to try and stop me from doing what I am out to do. I don't respect someone who is a pawn in someone else's game. That is what Cloudiee is. Cloudiee is coming into this, thinking he has this grand chance to do something special. He thinks this is his shot to go out there, and beat me. I will say that it's not the case. This match isn't Cloudiee's chance to beat me. This is Cloudiee's chance to go out there and stop me from beating people down, and taking them out with the same steel chair that's derailed so many already.
It's not going to happen!
I'm not being derailed!
See, when I became the Adrenaline Champion of SCW, a lot of people questioned my focus on the belt. Many people thought I felt it was a second tier title. Nobody believed I cared about it anymore. The truth is, I do. I changed that title forever, and I want to do it again. I know that challengers and opponents will be harder than ever before. At the same time, I have other aspirations, and I will not give up on them either. That's why Breakdown will be another moment where I go out and I show the world everything I am capable of.
At Breakdown, what is going to happen, will go something along the lines of this... First, I'm going to walk into the arena with a purpose. I am going to walk in with the mentality that I want to end Cloudiee's dreams. He is hoping that I will mark the beginning of his rise to glory, within the rankings of MY division, and ultimately giving people a reason to look at him, and believe that he could be a new force to be reckoned with. The problem is, this is MY division. This is the division I helped shape. Cloudiee marks the beginning of my full-blown defense of it. I want to show the world that this division is one to be taken seriously again. I mean, think about it. Think about when I last held the Adrenaline Championship... Think about how the title was believed to have mattered. In a nutshell, it didn't. When I became the World Champion as well, people began to take notice. People began to realize that the Adrenaline Championship mattered. It wasn't a nobody as it's namesake title holder anymore.
Now I'm going to do it again. Now I'm going to do what it takes to repeat history.
Cloudiee marks just the next step for me to prove that I care. I said I cared when I faced Dylan Howell, but nobody seemed to listen. Nobody seems to remember what I say, only what I do. So I am going to make an example out of this tiny rookie. I have to show people that some new high flyer isn't going to come into MY HOUSE, and beat me. Instead, he's going to come in, he's going to be beaten. I'm going to show him what the world of Adrenaline is all about, and I'm going to show him why he has a LONG way to go.
After all is said and done, after I've pounded Cloudiee, and sent him packing back to the world of the Emo, my night won't be complete. See, everyone will still be talking about the pay-per view. Everyone will still be talking about Double Jeopardy, and they'll be doing so, while trying to keep my name out of the conversation. So it'll be MY responsibility to put my name back into that conversation. See, before the dust settles, and before everyone goes home, preparing for Apocalypse, there will be another memory of Jake Starr that not just lasts through those last fleeting moments of the fans who watched and attended Breakdown. Instead, it'll last until Apocalypse. It'll last past Apocalypse. It'll stick in people's minds, and ultimately in the minds of the Board of Directors.
Breakdown begins the next evolution in the life and times of the ONLY living, breathing, and PROUD Social Misfit in this industry. It will be a day where everyone looks at me, and everyone begins to respect me for what I do, and what I have accomplished. If they don't, they'll be marked. If they don't step up, and admit the atrocities that have plagued SCW, then they better understand that my chair won't discriminate, and in fact, it'll begin to get a mind of its own, and at that point, I won't be able to do anything about what it does.
In a nutshell, this asylum is mine, and as its "Chairman," I will run it as I please! Welcome to the world of Social Misfit!
With Jake's final words, he pulls the chair up and begins to stare at it with a smile on his face. The feeling of power begins to make him feel stronger, knowing that the "partner" in his hand has forced everyone to be wary of what could be lurking over their shoulder. Jake knows that, whether the Board likes it or not, he will be able to impose his will on any and every match and individual until they are forced to take even further action to show their hand against Jake. In his mind, when they are forced to make the next move, they'll tip their hand, and he'll be able to exploit it in new ways each time.
With that mentality, Jake's eyes slowly turn back to the camera, with the grin getting bigger. He slowly begins to nod, and as the camera begins it fade to black, Jake puts the chair out to his side with his arm around. He leans his head over, leaning his head on one of the legs, acting as if it was the "shoulder" of his new partner. The last sounds are the callous and calculated giggle, emanating from Jake.
Some wonder how far Jake will take this. Will he be the type to begin to lose people close to him, again, all because of his desire for more? Will he be the type of situation where Jake does whatever he can to either get his way, or bring down SCW? Regardless of whether or not Jake goes to extremes he's yet to go to in SCW, he's determined to make the world know he's not going to stop. He's determined to ensure that before all is said and done, nobody forget how influential Jake Starr is, and will ALWAYS be, as long as he's a member of the SCW roster.
