There is a defined sense of nervousness surrounding the family of Jake Starr, most obviously toward Jake's wife, Roeper Hart. It's not due to Jake being injured, Jake going insane, Roeper's pregnancy, or budding wars between friends. Instead, it's a new type of nervousness. It's a feeling she's never felt before. It's a nervousness stemming from being at the arena with her husband for the first time ever.
Since the two have known one another, Roeper has avoided going to the arena, or any event with her husband. She hasn't done it because she has any negative feeling toward the business, or doesn't care about being part of her husband's professional life, but more so because she's been afraid she wouldn't be able to handle it. She's been afraid that if she allowed herself to become to emotionally involved in the business of professional wrestling, it could alter how she treats her husband. She's worried that what she may see might cause her to carry troublesome emotions with her, and not truly know how to address them with her husband. They are emotions that Roeper knows are irrational, and probably pointless, but since they met, she's stayed true to her guns... Until now!
Roeper surprised her husband by saying she would be accompanying him to Apocalypse, effectively putting herself in the middle of a potential cavalcade of comments, personalities, and potentially dangerous situations. It was an announcement that made Jake's day, but simultaneously gave him a slew of emotions and thoughts that could potentially come back to haunt him... But he wasn't about to turn the opportunity down, to have his wife there with him, when he faced Porno Lad.
Jake knew it would put some nerves into his system, wanting to perform flawlessly for his wife, in person, for the first time. But he also knew if everything went perfect, if he could go out there, dominate, win, and show the world that Porno Lad's victory over him was merely a fluke, and nothing to be seen as a truth any longer, he would show Roeper that all of these worries, everything she's feared, and everything she has avoided, by staying home and watching on TV, was a simple waste of energy.
When "D-Day" came to be, Jake knew it would be a different feel. He was used to walking into an arena alone, or along side Tommy and Dave, but this time, at Apocalypse, he'd be flanked by his wife and daughter.
Upon arriving to the arena, most likely planned this way, Jake was immediately greeted by Tommy and David. Both men wanted to ensure that nothing happened during Roeper's visit, and even acted as virtual bodyguards to both her, Mara, and Jake. The family was escorted in, and taken immediately to Jake's dressing room. Once all was confirmed "secure," Tommy and David went on about their way because of the preparation they needed to tend to for their respective matches. Jake and Roeper, meanwhile, conversed, and watched bits of the pay-per view happen on the small television in the room with them. Jake offered his wife bits of commentary on those they watched, including his two friends, the whole while slowly getting geared up himself.
After David's match concluded, Jake turned the television set of, to commence focusing solely on Porno Lad, and the deed he had to do tonight. The silence from that point on had Roeper feeling uneasy, never seeing this kind of focus in her husband before, and completely unaware that this was a, fairly normal, routine for Jake.
When Jake got word that he was "up next," it became "game time." Jake's focus became even more intense, and Roeper knew she and Mara simply had to do the best they could to "be invisible." Once Jake made his final preparations, he looked over at wife, gave her a small smirk, kissed both her and their daughter, and left the dressing room. It was the first time that Roeper had been alone in the arena, and part of her mind began to wonder, worrying if anyone would try to stir trouble, knowing she was here. But once she heard the heartbeats echoing from inside the main arena, her focus was solely on getting the television back on, and watching her husband perform.
As she watches Jake make his entrance, she begins to feel a definite sense of pride. As Jake begins his ascent into the ring, Roeper looks down at their daughter, hoping to convey the message of what they're both witnessing...
Roeper Hart: There's Daddy!
She continues to feel that sense of pride as the bell sounds and the match begins. She feels herself getting more and more into the moment, as the back and forth battle between Jake and Lad keeps the crowd on the edge of their seat. The urge begins to build in her soul to be right there at ringside, but she knows she'd be a lunatic, at this point, being that close to the action. In her mind, it's a step by step approach. The first step was watching him on television, and this is step two.
As the match continues to electrify the crowd, the door to Jake's dressing room begins to creak open. Roeper is stunned, not expecting any visitors, and wonders if this could conceivably be the "trouble" she was worried about. As the door gets further and further open, however, the worry subsides virtually immediately, as David Helms walks in. David has apparently just showered and cleaned up after his epic battle with Gable Winchester, and has decided to come catch Jake's outcome along side his friend's wife. The two hug, and exchange basic pleasantries and greetings toward one another, and then delve into a more poignant conversation, revolving around the event they're both at.
Roeper Hart: Many congratulations on the win tonight!
David Helms: Thanks, I appreciate it!
Roeper Hart: Did you think you'd be able to pull it out?
David Helms: Never a doubt in my mind!
Helms chuckles, showing the same true side that every superstar has, that err of confidence, but a mental maturity to know that in this business, anything can truly happen.
Helms then shifts the focus to Jake, and his currently on-going match.
David Helms: How's he doing?
Roeper Hart: Good, I think! There were a couple of times I got a bit worried, but I think he's got things under control.
David Helms: Yeah, he knows what he's doing. Believe me when I first met him, I kind of had that same feeling that it was just a cluster-fuck with him, but it's more "organized chaos," if that makes sense. Trust me, I doubt there's a reason to worry.
Roeper Hart: Easy for you to say, you've watched him in person before. This is my first time. It's like sex, you know, you've seen it on TV, or the internet nowadays, you know how it's supposed to work out, but you don't quite know how it'll be, for you, when that day actually comes to be a reality.
Helms begins to laugh.
David Helms: You know, I never thought of it that way, but yeah, I can definitely understand that analogy. But trust me, Jake is one of those guys who, when he goes out there, he's got 20 backup plans for every 1 plan he's formulated. If that doesn't work, he's got backups to backups. I don't know how he does it, or if he's slightly "Rain Man-ish," but it's true.
Roeper Hart: I hope so!
David Helms: I know so!
The two then pause their conversation, and shift their attention back to the monitor, and begin to watch the ending of Jake's match begin to unfold.
Lad gets back to his feet and tries to hook Starr up for a backslide pin, but Starr turns him around and has him in a killswitch position. He jumps up twisting him dropping him with a twisting killswitch. Starr quickly hits the turnbuckles climbing up and leaps up back flipping, compressing his legs into his chest and then extending as he connects with the fallen star.
Helms claps his hands together.
David Helms: That's it, it's over!
The referee makes the count

No impossible Porno Lad barely got his foot on the rope.
David Helms: Holy shit!
Helms's jaw is nearly on the floor from the shock.
Roeper Hart: What?!
David Helms: I can't believe Lad kicked out!
Roeper Hart: Why?
David Helms: You know how potent that Shooting Five Starr is...
Roeper Hart: Well, yeah, from what I've seen.
David Helms: Exactly... Hence the shock...
Sharper: Oh my I thought it was over. No one kicks out of the falling star.
Kayl: Jake Starr has to be asking himself what he possibly has to do to put Porno Lad away for good.
Sharper: It looks like it might take a bullet.
Kayl: At this rate I would have to agree with you.
Starr grabs ahold of Porno Lad but Porno fires a right hand into Starr’s ribs. Out of nowhere he leaps up from a crouched position and delivers a knee strike right on the nose of Starr. Porno Lad measures Jake Starr and spins up looking for the super kick finish but Starr ducks underneath it and Porno lands but is off balance from being exhausted from this grueling match. Starr punts him right in the gut doubling him over. He hooks the pile driver clutch and leaps over carrying Porno with him connecting with a sickening Canadian Destroyer. He drags Porno to the center of the ring and goes back to the top rope. He leaps off twisting through the air and connects with another falling star. He hooks the leg and the referee drops down one more time
David Helms: THERE IT IS!

Jake Starr pulls himself up exhausted breathing heavy. The crowd a roar for this athletic display. He then walks back over to Porno Lad and looks down at Porno Lad.
Jake Starr: Now you get the f*ck out of MY ring.
Starr climbs the turnbuckle and raises his hand in victory.
Helms and Roeper give one another a high-five, and Roeper leans in for the side-hug, excited that her husband has just conquered another one of the mountains that many had said he could never summit.
The monitor begins to fade out, and starts to head into the next segment of the pay-per view. Helms reaches out, and shuts it off, while Roeper still fights to catch her breath, still overcome by the shock and excitement of her husband's victory. Helms finds a bit of humor in Roeper's reaction, and the fact she got into it as much as she did.
David Helms: Didn't I tell you Jake always has a backup plan? I mean, even if it is just "repeat plan A," he still always has a backup.
Roeper continues to fight to catch her breath, and even Mara begins to wonder exactly why her mother is acting awkward. Mara slightly leans back in her mothers arms, and casts a look her way, showing her confusion. The look Mara shoots her mother's way catches Helms by surprise, and makes him laugh even more.
After several moments, the door to the dressing room opens again, and the victorious Jake Starr struts in, riding an obvious wave of energy and excitment from his win. His body is dripping with sweat, and he, much like his wife, is a bit out of breath.
Jake looks up from closing the door, and notices Helms in his dressing room as well, and is a bit in shock, having not expected to see his friend until later.
Jake Starr: Well I wasn't expected to see you yet!
Roeper Hart: I didn't want to miss being one of the firsts to congratulate you, and hell, we all know I couldn't miss the victory party!
Jake chuckles.
Jake Starr: Yeah, but I figured, and kind of hoped for that matter, that I wouldn't smell like sweat when it got to be party time.
Helms returns the chuckle.
Jake Starr: Do we know if Tommy will be joining us for the festivities?
David Helms: I don't know man... I haven't seen Tommy since earlier tonight.
Jake, still a bit leery of Tommy, tries to simply deflect his emotions, and not let it be another rehash between he and David.
Jake Starr: Ah!
Roeper finally approaches her husband, wanting to offer her praise to him for her performance. Jake looks down at her and Mara and smiles.
Jake Starr: Well? How'd I do?
Roeper just smiles back, and lifts herself up closer to Jake's height, and hugs him. She then leans her head back and gives him a gentle kiss. It's a scene that even makes Helms smile, and "awe" a bit.
Roeper Hart: Does that answer your question?
Jake Starr: Well I kind of figured you would probably have rather me been not stinky before doing that.
Helms chuckles, and Roeper just rolls her eyes at her husband.
Roeper Hart: Oh please... I've smelled every odor your body can emit, and nothing shocks or bothers me anymore.
Roeper gets both Jake and David to chuckle.
David Helms: By the way man, many congrats on owning Porno Lad.
Jake Starr: Hey man, you too. Gable isn't a walk in the park, that's for sure.
David Helms: Yeah, but he got what was coming to him.
Jake Starr: Definitely man! You know it's been a long time since the three of us have all had the ability to celebrate like this together.
David Helms: I know... It's been too long!
Helms shifts the conversation to Jake's match, directly.
David Helms: So, I got to ask, what were you thinking when Lad kicked out of the Shooting Five Starr?
Jake smirks.
Jake Starr: My first thought was, "oh shit." It definitely wasn't something I was expecting. I could feel a little panic begin to set in, so I had to really talk myself into staying calm, and going to a backup plan.
Helms makes a face toward Roeper, basically saying, "see I told you so," through some non-verbal facial expressions.
David Helms: Well that was smart of you.
Jake looks back over at Roeper.
Jake Starr: So, how did you feel during your first pay-per view?
Roeper Hart: I was nervous as hell!
Jake chuckles.
Roeper Hart: Seriously! I was!
Jake Starr: Heh, why?
Roeper Hart: Well, it was my first time being in a place like this, for an event like this. I was closer to the action than I've ever been before. I didn't want to see you lose in a match you were so passionate about, so it made me nervous!
Jake chuckles some more.
Jake Starr: How'd the little one take it?
Before Roeper can reply, Helms chimes in.
David Helms: Mara was looking at her like she was continually losing her mind!
Jake can't help but find that amusing.
Roeper Hart: I didn't lose my mind!
Jake leans in toward Mara, who is still in her mother's arms. Jake puts on his "child-like, daddy" voice, and begins to talk to his little girl.
Jake Starr: Did mama lose her mind? Aww! Did she get all worried, and worry you too? Yeah?
Jake backs off, and then looks at his wife.
Jake Starr: Yeah... She thinks you've gone kookoo!
Roeper just glares back at Jake, as he gets a good laugh out of the situation. He then heads over to his travel bag, and pulls out a towel to go into the shower, and begin to clean himself up.
With the victory over Porno Lad, Jake has definitely shown the world he truly is right back into contention to be considered the cream of the crop of SCW. He also knows that Winters is well aware of the fact that Jake is firmly on his heels, and closing. He also knows that the celebration with Tommy and David will be one they all enjoy, and one where they can all respectively have a good time thanks to their success at Apocalypse.
Moving forward, for Jake, he knows he has Breakdown ahead of him. He also knows that he is going into a match with a guy who has shocked the world when he emerged victorious against Porno Lad AND David Miller in the same match. He also knows that he MUST walk into Breakdown with the same err of confidence he's been riding since returning to SCW. If he doesn't do that, and doesn't stick to the guns that have carried him in and out of every match he's encountered, he'll be the next to face the upset.
Jake Starr: You know, recently we passed the birthday of the legendary Freddy Mercury. He was a man who sang many musical classics, such as "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and as it pertains to me, "Another One Bites the Dust." You see, when I walked into Apocalypse, the world was against me, and the doubters were piling on one by one. Man hoped Porno Lad would shut my momentum down. Greaternity hoped that this would be the day where Shawn Winters was given a safety cushion from me, and would have more of an argument to avoid having to stare me down. His hopes and dreams of looking superior were dashed. His hopes of having Jake Starr dumped from his "future endeavors," were vanquished when I won, and subsequently, he won too.
It's a sad, but harsh, reality for he, and his cronies, to accept.
I will say, however, his landscape looked mighty ugly at the end of Apocalypse. Yes, he's the World Champion. Yes, he beat Shaun Cruze. Yes, he looks like he's virtually unstoppable. All of these facts are there, but then there is another harsh reality. When Apocalypse went off of the air, it wasn't just Jake Starr staring him down. I wasn't alone in making sure he was VERY AWARE what his future holds. See, many know Shilo and I made a deal for Under Attack. It was something we were straight forward about. But there is another, another superstar who has made her presence felt, and let Winters know she's on his tail too, Christy Matthews. Christy is a woman I am definitely familiar with. She is a woman who, well, we all know doesn't exist outside of the world of wrestling, but in that world, she's a beast. She's done nothing short of running rough shod over whoever crosses her path, me included. It's a trinity of terror for Winters. It's three people he'd LOVE to avoid facing any time soon because he knows his hopes of retaining his championship against all three of us are slim to none. He knows he could conceivably get lucky enough to steal a couple of wins, but the third would be the challenge. The third would have seen what didn't work, and seen Winters strategy in defending. Trust me, his future is dark.
It's my future, so I think about it. I think about it a lot. I would lie if I said it wasn't something that I didn't focus on heavily. I also would lie if I said I didn't believe it'd be a distraction, because it is. It's a major distraction. It has been since I walked back into that locker room. Shawn Winters ran his mouth, and it's the eleventh hour for him. It's that time when he has to begin to understand that he's hopes and dreams of just finding a way to keep me from getting my chance to ending his role as the only surviving member of Greaternity. It weighs heavily on him, I know. It drives him nuts, especially because he doesn't have a remote belief that I should have even been able to hang with ANY member of Greaternity.
But trust me, like I told Porno Lad, I WILL get my chance to tell Winters as well, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY RING!"
Jake's mentality is fierce. He's been basically stalking Winters since the day he arrived, and the feeling that, "finally," Winters is within his grasp tastes wonderful. He also knows, however, that he can't focus solely on Winters. He knows his plate will continue to be filled with optimal talent, and he'll be thrown to the lion's den every opportunity possible to continue to prove his worth.
He looks up into the lens of the camera, knowing this is one of those moments.
It's a moment I yearn for, and I think about, like I said. But it doesn't blind me from reality. It doesn't blind me from the road blocks that get set in my path before that moment becomes a reality. This next road block is one that many would probably expect me to just feel like I will be stepping over, and ignoring. Many will believe that Jake Starr will just assume that this match is another "display" match for me, and by that I mean an opportunity for me to display how strong and superior I am to everyone. It's not that at all. I don't look at this coming episode of Breakdown as a squash in the least. If I did, I'd end up depressed. I'd end up upset, and throwing a temper tantrum when things went completely wrong.
When I look at The Redeemer, I see someone who is emerging within the ranks of Supreme Championship Wrestling. I see someone who has already done the unthinkable, and shocked the world. He has already made several members of the SCW roster eat crow, and ultimately look like children because of their reaction to what he did. He owns a victory in a match, I would honestly say, 100% of the locker room never expected him to have. And guess what, it's something that makes us similar. How, you ask? Well, think about who we hold victories over. He walked into Ammo, and he bested not just David Miller, a guy many feel is one of the most underrated talents in SCW, but also the same man I took down at Apocalypse, Porno Lad.
Yes, The Redeemer beat Porno Lad.
Now, there is a caveat to the fact he holds a win over Porno Lad, I helped. I made sure Porno Lad didn't garner any momentum walking into Apocalypse, not because I didn't think I could beat him if he was riding a wave, but more so because I wanted to make sure he knew, in the back of his mind, he was beaten by someone many didn't know existed in the locker room. I wanted him to know, and constantly think about, the fact he was beaten by a guy who still is getting his feet wet here. It's a feeling i definitely know I put in the heads of many, and I know how it works. I know how much pain and suffering it causes people. I wanted Lad to feel that, and The Redeemer was the benefactor. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm not saying The Redeemer couldn't have done it on his own. I'm not saying I was the sole reason The Redeemer won. I'm simply saying I had a part in it.
So I will say it makes sense, throwing him in my path. He and I have both shattered Porno Lad's dreams, and forced him to simply go find another place to even be considered relevant. It's a place where, honestly, should he ever become the Adrenaline Champion, I will be going to take the belt from him, simply because that belt will always mean more to me than anything... But that's another story. The Redeemer and I have BOTH done something that virtually nobody thought would even be a reality. We both stopped Porno Lad dead in his tracks. Now, we have to settle who truly was "more gooder" than Lad.
If I win, I continue to ride momentum. If The Redeemer upsets me like he did Miller and Porno Lad, it would be detrimental to what I'm planning going forward. The Redeemer is someone I can't underestimate, and someone I can't simply expect to lie down for me.
So I won't!
Instead of looking past him, I'll look right at him. I'm looking at a man who, much like myself, is on a mission. He's on a mission to destroy the Order of Chaos. He's on a mission to destroy that which has plagued him, and caused him much pain and suffering. It's something I relate to, and respect. If someone pains you, you can't let them get away with it. It's, from what little I know, much like Shawn Winters to me. It's something that makes The Redeemer and I very similar, and something that makes me really respect The Redeemer as a human being. It's not easy to walk around, and have a focus on bringing down a goon squad, while also trying to further your career as a superstar. It's just no easy to do. It weighs on you, it hurts you, it mentally destroys you moment by moment. But you know, it takes a special person to accept that destruction, accept that pain, and still push forward. That's why I look at The Redeemer, and see something far greater than the others around me. That's why I don't see The Redeemer as someone who is just another warm body for the "big boys" to just walk over. He's an opponent who has only lost once, and it was to a member of Infamous.
With all of that being said, however, the respect doesn't make me not feel like I won't continue riding this wave. I feel like I'm a force that cannot be stopped, and won't be stopped until I reach Shawn Winters, and then it'll be the battle to end all ages. The Redeemer is someone who has a bright future. He's someone who will push me to my limits. But I come into this match having my limits having been pushed time and time again. Since I've come back, I've had everything thrown at me, and in some cases, I'd even say I had the kitchen sink thrown in too. I've been battle tested, and trust me when I say, he won't bring anything new to the ring. He won't bring anything Lad and Allocco didn't bring. Sure, he'll be on a mission to get back on track to destroy the Order of Chaos, and end the pain they've brought him, and I wish him well in that mission, but it won't be a rebound with me.
The Redeemer won't be redeeming himself against me. He won't be getting back on the winning train against Jake Starr. He will eventually do it, just not at my expense. Redemption is something that, especially in Supreme Championship Wrestling, doesn't come easily. Since returning, I've been doing everything I could to redeem myself in the eyes of the masses, and it hasn't come yet. I have shown on multiple occasions that I can kick the asses of those who're perceived as "the best," and still get zero respect. So redemption is still a goal for me as well. Redemption is something I still seek as well. I've had to battle minute by minute, match by match, and hope it got me what I wanted, and it still hasn't quite gotten there yet. So while he may have fallen to a member of Infamous, and be looking at me as his chance to prove to the world why he is "The Redeemer," it won't happen. It won't be this match. It'll be down the road, and it'll be with someone who nobody expects, but not me. Not after what I've done to get to this day.
You see, I have worked my ass off to get to this point. I have faced some of the greatest in this industry over my SCW career, and since beginning my quest to shut Shawn Winters the FUCK UP, I've been, basically, told I was going to fumble the ball twice. I've been told that, "Jake Starr has no chance of beating Adam Allocco/Porno Lad." I've heard it all. People feel I'm a farce, a fluke, boring, dumb, a "burier," and lucky. All I have to say is, I've EARNED every win I have in SCW, all 48 of them. I've put it all out there, and let the chips fall as they may. If people think I'm some stupid adjective, that's perfectly fine. I've won two World Championships, held the Adrenaline Championship longer than ANYONE, and made it, arguably, the most coveted title during my reign, and gone into an interpromotional event, and emerged with TWO World Championships, and if some dumb, stupid, boring, burying, lucky, fluke, can do that, I'm totally alright with it, and I'll keep doing it. At Breakdown I show The Redeemer why I was voted the 2009 Rookie of the Year, 2010 Male Superstar of the Year, and arguably the most polarizing figure in SCW history. At Breakdown, I beat The Redeemer, and continue my journey toward Shawn Winters, and eventually, a third reign atop the world of Supreme Championship Wrestling. At Breakdown, I continue my quest for, well, REDEMPTION!
